Feb. 16. Letter to Mother, “somewhere in France,“ although in same location. Explains how he doesn’t have time to write because of classes, which he says are much like those at Plattsburg but he is not doing very well on the tests which could hurt his chances for a good assignment when school ends; course is five weeks. He can’t tell where they are but it’s a long way from the coast and large cities. He describes the living conditions and food, and going to a river to take a bath when a French soldier wouldn’t let him go any further but did let him bathe.
