Administrative history

Chimes Junior Honorary Society chapter at Kansas State University began in 1952 as the society's fourteenth chapter.  The local chapter of Chimes remained a female-only group until three men joined with 15 women in 1977's new class of initiates.  The national organization has disbanded, but the remaining chapters have retained the name and symbol of Chimes Junior Honor Society.

Scope and content

The Chimes Junior Honorary Society records include scrapbooks and other records related to the activities of the group from 1979 to 2016.  Subjects include society activities such as meetings, banquets, Parents Day, Family Day, service projects, and special events.

System of arrangement

This collection is arranged in three boxes. Box 1 contains scrapbooks from 1979–1980, 1981–1984, 1996–1997, 2000–2001, 2002–2003, and 2011–2013. Box 2 contains scrapbooks from 1985, 1989–1992, and 1997–1998, along with parents' weekend planning records from 1989–1993 and publicity chairman records. Box 3 contains scrapbooks from 1998–2000 and 2013–2014 along with membership rosters from 1999–2016.
