This series contains administrative and related records from the College of Veterinary Medicine from 1855-2004. This series also functions as a catch-all for the material in this collection that didn’t seem to fit well in the other series. The contents of this series are largely handbooks and manuals, proposals and applications, various records, reports, publications, presentation materials, records related to international programs, material pertaining to campus and its buildings, and a films catalogue which describes some of the video materials of this collection (see: Video Materials, CDs, and Tapes).
This series’ handbooks and manuals include the Veterinary Medicine handbook, the Animal Resource Facility Information handbook, faculty handbooks, student handbooks, and the Manual of Poultry Diseases. The proposals and applications include curriculum proposals, grant applications, construction proposals, long term plans, and development plans.
Records in this series include financial records, record and notebooks, records for specific groups, reports, data and statistics, minutes, correspondence, awards and related documents, publications, presentation information, international program material, and campus and building information. The financial records contain material like account books, budget books, budget justification, and fundraiser information. Veterinary Medicine record books and notebooks can be found in this series, as well as lab records, Developmental Council records, Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association records, Administrative council records, Dean of Academic Administration records, and Instructional Technology Center records. Similarly, this series contains reports like project reports, accreditation reports, Veterinary Medicine Annual Reports and Audit Reports, Veterinary Medicine growth and development reports, reports of research, reports of programs, reports of experiments, Veterinary Medical Licensing Program reports, Clinic Reports, meeting reports, the New York Women’s League for Animals annual report, reports on Academic Success, self-studies of departments, self-evaluation of programs, and environmental assessments of campus.The data and statistics featured in this series relate to studies pertaining to the College of Veterinary Medicine, like historical statistics of the US, student stress data, Veterinary Medicine admissions data, graduate lists and alumni information, a Kansas State University fact book, History of the Kansas State Agricultural College, Veterinary Medicine history, Comparative Data Summaries, and statistics about animals who have been medical patients.

This series’ publications include newsletters, newspapers, journal prints, pamphlets, brochures, booklets, reprints (especially faculty reprints), bulletins, speeches, and dissertations. The presentation-related material includes programs, transcripts, publications, and other information related to conferences, lectures, and seminars. The international programs mentioned in this series are the Agency for International Development, the International Agricultural Programs, and Ahmadu Bello University, all of which have to do with the KSU College of Veterinary Medicine’s interaction with Nigeria. Lastly, this series contains information pertaining to campus and its buildings, like diagrams, plans, records of changes to buildings, information on construction, grants, and images.

Hospitality Days was an event for programs to display their current research and developments. High schoolers interested in college could attend along with other community patrons. Printed material (1885-2006) contains university and departmental publications, as well as books and articles that reflect Dr. Good's professional interests. The two titles with the largest number of issues are the College of Agriculture Teaching Newsletter and Monday Morning Updates.
The Biological and Agricultural Engineering series contains photographs that cover Biological and Agricultural Engineering subjects. Along with slides from Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering faculty members Joseph P. Harner and Pat Murphy. They show reduced tillage, corrals, and proper crop storage in bins and problems that could occur with them and lastly documents with historical information about the Biological and Agricultural Engineering program at Kansas State University. The date range for this series is 1866-1977.
Department of Biological and Agricultural EngineeringThis series contains photographs of a variety of subjects related to the College of Veterinary Medicine between 1898-2014. These materials fall into the following categories: people, buildings, animals, labs, events, miscellaneous photos, and oversize photos.
The photos of people include faculty, staff, students, and other notable individuals. Specifically, this category contains dean’s portraits, portraits of scholarship donors like Louis and Norma Jane Ball, alumni groups and portraits, class composites, ID and yearbook photos (including portraits and candids for faculty, staff, and students), photos of Willie the Wildcat, and photos of Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association members.
Photos of buildings include diagrams of buildings, as well as photos of buildings during construction, renovation, and after completion. There are photos of the KSU campus, the Veterinary Medicine Complex and campus, the Instructional Technology Center, the Anti-Hog Cholera Serum Plant, and the Veterinary Hospital, as well as Anderson Hall, Dykstra Hall, Mosier Hall, Trotter Hall, and Coles Hall.
Animal photos largely consist of lab animals, farm animals, and pets.
Lab photos depict workspaces and procedures carried out by the College of Veterinary Medicine, like surgery, meat inspection, and clinical pathobiology labs. The subjects of these labs were all animals.
Veterinary Medicine events in this series include open houses, alumni reunions, conferences (like the June Conference and the Annual Conference for Veterinarians), and Cat Town (currently referred to as Vet Town).
Miscellaneous photos include unlabeled or unidentified images, as well as photos of documents, the Veterinary Unit of the Reserve Officers’ training Corps, and additionally photos related to the International Agriculture Programs, Agency for International Development, and Ahmadu Bello University.
Lastly, there are a handful of oversize photos which mostly range from 1907-1964 that depict students, faculty, anatomy class, the first Annual Veterinary Conference, the Veterinary Hospital, Dykstra Hall, the Anti-Hog Cholera Serum Plant, the Trotter Hall Library renovation diagrams, and a Kansas Legislature poster.
This series contains yearbooks and scrapbooks, which include auxiliaries and photo albums, from the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine between 1905-1999. The scrapbooks consist of the Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association: A Year in the Life of the Student Wives scrapbook, a Veterinary Medicine photo album which features students, staff, and newsletters from 1989-1995, and the Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association auxiliaries from 1958-1980, which include photographs, certificates, newsletters, and other records. There are additionally yearbooks for the College of Veterinary Medicine that cover the years 1996-1999.
This series contains records pertaining to interviews about the College of Veterinary Medicine. The vast majority of this series consists of interviews of alumni for the history book, “A Century of Excellence: Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine” by Howard H. Erickson and Ronnie G. Elmore. In addition to printed transcripts and cassette, microcassette, and VHS tape recordings of interviews, there are also drafts of “A Century of Excellence” in this series. The interviews and other materials for this book span from 1905 to the book’s publication in 2005. There is also a CD copy that was ordered in 2007 containing some of the information pertinent to this project.
This series contains audio and visual material related to the College of Veterinary Medicine during 1907-2014 on CDs, DVDs, cassette tapes, microcassette tapes, VHS tapes, and film reels. In Administrative Records, there is a film catalogue that may list some of the materials in this series. The CDs largely contain photographs and portrait backups. The DVDs contain recordings of events like talent shows, commencement, alumni fellow presentations in the Historical Perspectives series, and interviews. There is also a teaching aid DVD, as well as a College of Veterinary virtual tour DVD. The cassette and microcassette tapes are largely recordings of interviews for the history book, “A Century of Excellence: Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine” by Howard H. Erickson and Ronnie G. Elmore (see Series 2: Interview Transcripts and Tapes for more information). The VHS tapes contain recordings of tribute videos and interviews for “A Century of Excellence,” as well as events like award nominations, award ceremonies, dedication ceremonies, and alumni fellow presentations in the Historical Perspectives series. The film rolls/movie reels are unlabeled and it is unclear exactly what they contain. The majority of this material is dated between 1980-2010, as most of the content that predates that period only pertains to “A Century of Excellence.”
This series largely consists of class composites (including photographic negatives of class composites) from the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine between 1907 and 2004. The name of this department has changed since it was founded in 1905, which is reflected in the labels of this series’ contents. This series includes class composites of the KSU Veterinary Division between 1907-1931, the KSU Division of Veterinary Medicine between 1932-1942, the KSU School of Veterinary Medicine between 1944-1963, and finally the KSU College of Veterinary Medicine between 1965-2004. This series also contains a faculty composite of the KSU School of Veterinary Medicine between 1945-1949, as well as a class composite from the St. Joseph Veterinary College class of 1911.
This series contains photographic slides and negatives related to the KSU College of Veterinary Medicine between 1907-2006. There is some overlap in the subject matter between these two media, but they don’t contain the same material entirely. There are significantly fewer slides than negatives as well.
The slides depict events, labs (including surgery, equipment, hormones, other procedures, and Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association specific content), animals (pets, lab animals, farm animals, and Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association animals), people (faculty, staff, students, exchange students, and Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association members), buildings and maps, as well as miscellaneous or unlabeled slides.
Since there are more negatives, it is best to break them down into the following categories: people, labs and equipment, locations, animals, events, and miscellaneous photographic negatives.
Negatives featuring people include portraits, candids, and IDs of faculty, staff, interns, students, alumni, and members and officers of the Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association. It also includes class photos, class composites, and photos of alumni groups.
Featured labs include pathology labs, cardiology labs, necropsy labs, radiology labs, toxicology labs, wet labs, surgery (including large animal surgery and kidney transplant images), intensive care, dairy labs, computer labs, and other procedures. Equipment related to these labs include a CT machine, an MRI machine, and other clinic equipment.
Negatives containing images of locations show places within the Veterinary Medicine Complex/Campus, in the Kansas State University campus as a whole, as well as locations in the greater Manhattan area. There are images of layouts/maps, construction, maintenance, renovations, and snow and fire damage to buildings. Images from within the Veterinary Medicine campus show Mosier Hall (the Clinical Science building, as well as the Veterinary Medicine Teaching Building), Dykstra Hall (the old Veterinary Medicine building), Trotter Hall (which contains the Veterinary Library), Coles Hall, Hill’s Pet Health and Nutrition Center, and the hay barn (both the burned hay barn and the new hay barn). Locations in the general K-State campus include the Instructional Technology Center, the Alumni Center, and outdoor classrooms. Locations in the Manhattan area include the Flint Hills and the Konza Prairie.
The animals featured in the photographic negatives are either pets, farm animals, or wildlife/exotic animals. A significant amount of these images were taken for or of labs. Pets featured in this series are mostly dogs and cats. Featured farm animals include cattle (cows, bulls, and calves), horses (including ponies, foals, and horse treadmill tests), pigs, goats, and sheep. Wild or unusual animals include bobcats, birds (especially owls and eagles), kangaroos, ostriches, camels, chimpanzees, lesser pandas, deer and related animals’ mounted heads to be sold, a bear rug to be sold, and dinosaur teeth.
Events featured in this series fall under one of the following categories: formal, casual, recreation, donation, food, and sports. The formal events include conferences (especially the June Conference, Annual Conference for Veterinarians, the Emergency Clinic Conference, and audio visual conferences), seminars, lectures (like the Clarenberg Leture Series), banquets and ceremonies (especially award ceremonies and banquets, employee recognition ceremonies, and White Coat Ceremonies), Symposium, Graduation, and building dedications (including that of Mosier Hall, Hill’s Pet Health and Nutrition Center, and the Kind statue dedication). Casual events feature open houses, class reunions and alumni reunions, intramural events, and parties (like class parties, slumber parties, yearbook parties, parties for staff, Halloween parties, Christmas parties, graduation parties, retirement parties, and retirement receptions). Recreational events include Cat Town (now referred to as Vet Town), Fall Brawl, Spring Fling, Last Blast, State Fairs, pie throwing, and rodeos. Miscellaneous negatives include images pertaining to organizations like the Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association (featuring animals, procedures, and surgery, on top of the aforementioned members and officers), the American Animal Hospital Association, the NeoNatal Care Unit, Phi Zeta, and Genesis (related staff, party, and yearbook). Also featured in this category are negatives of photos of magazines, auxiliaries, college brochures, material from the Dean’s office, photos for the yearbook, and unlabeled negatives.
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering series contains three boxes consisting of material from the department. It includes faculty portraits, class profiles, Rathbone Hall construction photos, graduate and faculty meeting minutes, an Electrical Engineering Scrapbook, and various pictures and slides documenting different activities and student organizations including Engineering Open House and the Engineering Advisory Council.
College of EngineeringThis series includes minutes from faculty senate, academic affairs committee, and course and curriculum committee meetings.

The Department of Applied Human Science includes several programs, including Communication Sciences & Disorders, Early Childhood Education, Family and Consumer Science Education, Human Development and Family Science, and Integrative Human Sciences. This series includes the reorganization of 1990 that proposed to eliminate the College of Health and Human Sciences and the College of Architecture. There is correspondence regarding program mergers. Photos and news clippings from the child development lab to the protests from the 1990 reorganization. Plans and correspondence regarding the home management houses are included. This department was created by the merger of the Department of Family Economics and the Department of Family and Child Development in 1985 which created the Department of Human Development & Family Studies. The name changed to Applied Human Science in 2020.
The Department of Industrial Engineering series contains faculty files from the department of Industrial Engineering in the College of Engineering. Files include name of employee, salary, title, resume and other various related job experience information.

The Audio-Visual series consists primarily of photographs and negatives documenting department activities (1924-1988), as well as photo albums and scrapbooks. Some of the activities highlighted are livestock shows and judging teams, Weber Hall, the U. S. Beef Symposium, and the 1950 International Team. Glass negatives and lantern slides have been relocated to allow for better preservation of fragile materials.
The department of Food, Nutrition, Dietetics, and Health used to be called the Department of Foods and Nutrition in 1947. Before that it was the Department of Foods Economics and Nutrition (1919-1947). In 1918, Human Nutrition was transferred from the Department of Chemistry. Pictures from meat judging competitions in 1927 are included in this series. Along with, reports of faculty changes and proposals for a clinical Ph.D.
The Judging series (1932-2003) focuses primarily on the livestock (1948-2003) and dairy (1969-1987) judging teams. Other topics include the Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contest, the wool team, American Royal, Kansas State Fair, and judging in general.

The series consists of files related to courses taken for credit through DCE and from programs outside of K-State. Credit courses highlighted are from the College of Arts & Sciences, College of Education, College of Business, Telecourses, and the Undergraduate completion program. The Faculty Senate Meeting Records series consists of 12 boxes ranging from 1952-2016.This series contains meeting minutes and agendas from Faculty senate along with generalized notes that pertain to the overall senate.
The correspondence series (1954-1991) consists of fourteen items including individual correspondence and letters concerning tenure, academic credentials, the 17th Stockman's Dinner, and departmental print orders.
The Executive Committee series consists of 3 boxes ranging from 1956-2012.The Executive Committee is a sub-committee within Faculty senate. This series consists of meeting minutes, agendas, and overall general notes pertaining to the committee. Along with minutes and agendas from the graduate council.
The date range for the conference series is 1989-2007.Files pertaining to conferences that were held at Kansas State University or KSU was involved in from calendar years 1989-2004. The boxes contain the name of the conference, an attendance report, final budgets for the conference, brochures and promotional materials for said conference, and lastly conference material (i.e., Notes, minutes, reports) The conference series contains 20 boxes.
The Conference series (1959-2003) records Dr. Good's involvement in various professional activities such as contests, shows, sales, expos, state and county fairs, conventions, and forums.
