      Dick J. Stith, a distinguished architect, college professor, and artist, was born on June 18, 1922, in Culver, Ottawa County, Kansas. After serving in World War II, Stith sketched the island of Okinawa, Japan, and upon returning home attended Kansas State University for a Bachelor's of Arts in Architecture. He graduated in 1951 and began his own architecture practice in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Stith joined the faculty of the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1959. He furthered his academics by earning a Master of Architecture degree from Kansas State University in June 1964. Stith then retired from the University of Wisconsin in 1986. He passed away on December 16, 1998, in Madison, Wisconsin.
