Box 1- A83412143080- Contains 4 file folders all of which contain ADA Building Surveys. First one contains surveys dated 1992 for: Fairchild, Farrell Library, Ford, and Foundation. Second folder is dated 1991, however the surveys were completed in 1992. They are for: Frith, Goodnow Hall, Grounds, Haymaker Hall and Holton/ Holtz. Third one has surveys dated 1992 for: Justin, Kedzie/King, Kramer, and Lafene Health. Fourth and final folder in this box is also dated 1992 and has the ADA surveys for: Leisure Hall, Lot A-30, Marlet Hall, McCain Auditorium, Military Science, and Moore Hall.
Box 2- A83412142327- Contains 3 file folders that also have ADA Building Surveys, and also a booklet of K-State’s “Title IX Compliance Report and Implement Plan,” dated September 1995. First file contains ADA surveys dated 1992 for: Natatorium, Nichols Hall, Physical Plant, Pittman, Rec Complex, Shellenberger, Seaton, Smith, and Smurthwaite. Second one has the surveys from 1992 for: Strong complex, Thompson, UFM, Umberger Hall, Vet Med Complex/ Trotter, Ward, and Waters/ Weber Waters Annex. Third folder has even more ADA Surveys for 1992 that go over: West Stadium/ West Hall/ Willard, ULA DOW Cottage, and the Union.
Box 3- A13411851556- Contains a binder with more ADA Surveys from 1992. The binder contains the surveys for: Ackert/Ahearn/ Anderson, Art Building, Bluemont, Bob Dole, Brandeberry, Bramlage, Burt Hall, Bushnell Hall, Call Hall, Calvin/Cardwell Hall, College Court, Davenport/Danforth Chapel, Denison, Derby, Durland, Dykstra, East Stadium, Edwards Hall, Eisenhower Hall, and Evans.
Box 4-Oversize Box- A83412143543- Contains presenter boards and posters for talks and events. All are labeled “Sponsored by the Dorothy L. Thompson Civil Rights Lecture Series.” Dates range from 1997-2004
Box 5-Oversize Box- A83412143525- Contains more presenter boards and posters for various evens held at K-State. Dates range from 1998-2008. There are posters of debates, lectures, and they are part of the “Dorothy L. Thompson Civil Rights Lecture Series.”

Box 1- A83412059312 - Four Binders. Two of which are detailing “Strategic Planning” or ways to grow/ maintain the university. One is from 1988, and the other goes from 1989 to 1991. Blue binder contains a “Report of the Title IX Task Force” for 1976. Last binder (green) goes over K-States push for affirmative action. It contains mailing lists for new students, and lists for “Recruitment sources for women/ minorities.” It also has some clipping of ad campaigns. Approx. dates 1976-1988.

Box 2- A83412142903- Four binders as well as file folders. Three binders contain title IX Survey forms, including two copies of the same one for the schools of Agriculture, Architecture, Design, and Business. Last Binder contains the “Report of the Title IX Task Force.” This box contains several folders with Title IX Tax surveys from 1975- 1976 separated by department. There are papers with lists of students and what their answers for the tax survey. Also, there are several fliers advertising programs, and they are with the department that they correspond with. One other folder contains files from the Alliance for Equality in Sports from 1978, and the last one has files pertaining to the “Task force on Women’s Programming and Services.”

Box 3- A83412049684-File Folders. Data sets from Program reviews from 1992, including administration, dean reports, and an overall summary of the programs. This box contains the folders for: The college of Architecture and Design, Arts and Sciences, Education, Business Administration, and the college of Technology. They also include Provost’s Committee Report from 1982, and records from General Administration. There is another section of files for the Minority Affirmative Action Committee records from 1978-1982.

This collection includes typewritten reminiscences of Aftosa International Roundup members, a membership roster, the 1990 roundup schedule of events, and two photocopied news clippings from the Laredo Morning Times relating to the 1990 roundup. It also includes four photocopied books which were reproduced for members of the society with the permission of the publishers:

Contains branch reports from Kansas Agricultural Experiment Stations. The branches and dates which we have reports for are Colby branch reports, dating from 1914-1981, Garden City branch reports, dating from 1908-1972, Fort Hays branch reports, dating from 1906-1972, Southeast Kansas branch reports, dating from1913-1984, and Mound Valley branch reports, dating from1950-1964.

This collection features many pieces of correspondence. In addition, there are items concerning Francis Lewis’s activities in Cooperative Extension and 4-H. There are family expense books, receipts, canceled checks, bank statements, and other statistical financial information, plus photographs, awards, and ribbons. A major portion of the collection deals exclusively with the registered bull records. This material begins with the start of the herd to the dispersal auction in 1987. Another part of the records is ranch-related correspondences from the time John M. Lewis owned the herd to the final days of Walter’s control of the farm. Most of these letters consist of requests for bull prices and information, bull shows, bull sale confirmations, and association with the American Polled Hereford organization.

The Correspondence Series consists of nine boxes of personal letters from Robert and Martha Lewis to their parents. The letters begin when each child were students at Kansas State University, and continue through their academic pursuits. Also in this series is ranch-related correspondence to John and Walter as foremen of the herd. These letters are arranged alphabetically by the name of the person or company and in chronological order within each. Boxes eight and nine contain letters related to various subjects such as international, awards, hotels, publications, university, legal, and cattle organizations.

The second series concerns Francis Lewis. It begins with her time as a student at Kansas State Agricultural College and continues with her involvement in 4-H and a meats instructor/judge. Printed items in her collection concern meat cooking, judging, showing, and education. These items include brochures, pamphlets, books, and charts. There are various items dealing with meat judging contests including scorecards, statistical information, team placement information, and some unidentifiable material. Also contained are family expense booklets and receipts.

The third series comprises Walter and Francis’s judging for the Herford and Polled Hereford Association in arenas and shows in various countries which drew contestants from around the world. The fourth series is the Financial Series. Because of the nature of the records, this series includes both family business and ranch business. There are credit card records, canceled checks, bank statements, farm receipts, and Cooperative receipts. The fifth series is Cattle Records/Documentation. Within this group is a wide range of cattle records dealing with registration, births, deaths, sales, purchases, history, and transfer of the majority of the Lewis herd. There are various records, some complete and some incomplete, from the Polled Hereford Association Application Records to the Guide Lines Program records. This series also contains printed material associated with Walter Lewis, “Farm Management Records,” miscellaneous farm records, and weekly planners and calendar books pertaining to both Walter and Francis.

Photographs make up the sixth series. This includes family members, awards, shows, and cattle. The photos are organized by subject, although a portion of the collection is unidentified. The seventh series is Artifacts, primarily those of Walter Lewis. They include pins from shows in the United States along with some foreign countries. Also included are buttons representing Walter’s activities. Other items include an assortment of name tags and ribbons from both Walter and Francis. Whenever possible, a few of these items, such as the pins and buttons, have been photocopied for easier identification and retrieval.
